This was my checklist when it came to researching second income ideas.

• No cold calling, no calling friends and family, no party plans.
• Does it pay out 100% commissions?
• Does the company publish all it’s affiliates earning’s as proof of how they are doing?
• Does it operate successfully all around the world?
• Does it offer a simple, easy to follow marketing plan?
• Does it a have a community of like minded entrepreneurs all willing to help each other?
• Does the training teach you strategies that only the top marketers normally get to hear about?

 

As I mentioned before, the first few companies that I invested in didn’t offer all these points, but I’m happy to say that my current business ticks all the boxes. Does The Apple iWatch Worry Pebble And The Other Smart Watch Creators?

Are the rumours true that the Apple iWatch is being created? If so are the established smart watch makers like Pebble  worried about the big boys stealing their market?

On the contrary, they welcome the competition from the proposed new Apple iWatch.

“The more people are looking at smart watches, the more they might look at Pebble,” says Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky.

Smart watches normally connect via Bluetooth to smartphones and often offer their own array of apps. They are currently a huge trend in hardware, so it’s no big surprise that an Apple iWatch should be on the drawing board.

Following Pebble becoming a sensation through crowdfunding site Kickstarter, many others followed in an attempt to catch onto the smart watch craze, including larger companies like Sony (SNE) and Google’s (GOOG, Fortune 500), plus Motorola have jumped in with their own techie takes on the wristwatch.

An Apple iWatch, however, could be a game-changer. The New York Times strengthened the Apple iWatch rumours on Sunday, reporting that Apple is working on an iOS-powered smart watch that features a curved glass display.

“It’s pretty cool that so many people are interested,” Migicovsky says. “When I started working on a watch five years ago, I was a kid at the University of Waterloo soldering things together. And then to see The New York Times writing a story a month about smart watches, that is awesome.”

Pebble had to produce 85,000 watches for Kickstarter backers and it began shipping in January after a four-month delay.

Some other smart watch makers agree with Migicovsky that an Apple iWatch would generate huge interest in the market.

“If the [Apple smart watch] rumours are true, they would instantly validate the category,” says Bill Geiser, CEO of MetaWatch.

Geiser says his product is focused on simplicity and design, but concedes that MetaWatch and other companies in the smart watch arena will have to make their products standout from the tech giant if Apple decides to get into the market.

“Apple is magnificently successful in all they do, and they will be in [smart watches] too, I’m sure,” Geiser says. “But not everyone is going to want the same thing. There will be products that do things the Apple watch doesn’t.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if the Apple iWatch does become a reality, but as yet nothing has been confirmed about a release date, which still gives the current players a chance to strengthen their hand and get a tighter grip on the market.

How To Use H Tags In Wordpress To Boost Blog Post Rankings.

If you would like to know how to use H tags in WordPress so that all your blog posts are found more easily by the search engines, then this article will take you through everything you need to learn.

There are 3 main types of H tags in WordPress associated with SEO. There are more, but these 3 are all you will need for starters.

H1 tags

H2 tags

H3 tags

For them all to be effective in terms of SEO, all the h tags should contain the keywords that you have chosen for your article.

H tags in wordpress mean heading tags, so h1 and h2 tags are headings 1 & 2 and h3 tags are heading 3.

The paragraph above = the h3 tags and again was highlighted, then heading 3 chosen from the dropdown menu on the dashboard.

In this screenshot below I have highlighted the first paragraph, hit the dropdown menu and selected heading 1, so this then becomes the h1 tag.

You then repeat the process by highlighting the next paragraph containing your keyword, but this time select heading 2 from the dropdown and this becomes the h2 tags, then again for the 3rd paragraph with the keyphrase in it and select heading 3 for your h3 tags.

You can now see that paragraph 1 shown below has the largest type and contains my keyphrase, which in this case is H tags in WordPress, so this = h1 tag, then paragraph 2 also shown below, slightly smaller type = h2 tag.

If you have used your keyphrase multiple times in your article, you could have more than oneh2 and h3 tags, but remember to also to put your keyphrase in bold somewhere in the post, then highlight it in italics at another point and also underline it as well. This gives the search engines a much better clue about what your post is about and if you’ve done your keyword research right, then you should find using h tags in wordpress articles will improve the visibility of the post to search engines.

Using h tags in WordPress is a fairly basic rule of on page optimisation, but it’s definitely worth using and when used with other SEO techniques you will begin to see the benefits of all the free traffic you have created.

Copycat Amazon Resume Shows How Your Personal Brand Gets You Noticed.

How you put together your personal brand can influence your job prospects, as a web product developer found out when he created his online CV to look like an Amazon page. The result was that his resume went viral and the guy in question received over 100 job offers.

This proves that by thinking outside of the box with how your personal brand looks it can have a major effect on making you stand out from the crowd.

 

Frenchman Philippe Dubost was searching for a job as a web product manager, so he decided to make his online CV look like an Amazon page, proving that some creativity and attention to your personal brand image can be the difference to getting you noticed.

He began his job search in late December and wasn’t happy about the prospect of sending out a normal looking CV like everyone else does, so he built his to look like an Amazon page, complete with product dimensions, five-star ratings, world-wide shipping and even a gift-wrap option.

 

“Amazon’s pages just naturally fit the form of a resume,” he said. “I just thought that if a company thinks that this is fun, then that’s a company I would like to work for.”

 

To start with his job hunting didn’t gain much momentum, but as Philippe explains, one decision changed everything.

 

“At first I sent it out as a link with the normal job applications I was sending, but then sent an email to a popular French blog saying ‘Hey guys, if you’re bored and have nothing to look at…’”

 

Within a week it was appearing on more and more blogs and social media sites and shot up from around 500 hits a day to over 200,000, and the page has gained over 27,000 Facebook “likes”.

But apart from being a viral hit across the Internet, Dubost’s Amazon resume has also achieved what he hoped it would do when he first thought up the idea, which was to get a job out of it. In all he has received over 100 work-related job offers coming from across Asia and Europe.

 

“Quite a few are great and are really fit what I’m looking for,” he said.

 

Philippe came to the conclusion that if you make your personal brand a smart piece of design, then add your own personality, it helps you to reach your target audience.

 

“It made me realize how important your personal brand is,” he says.

 

Your personal brand matters just as much if you intend to make your living from the Internet. People will only be attracted to you if they like the look of the message that you put across. How To Do Keyword Research To Rank Your Articles.

A vital skill when you first start out in Internet Marketing is to be able to know how to do keyword research so that your articles will rank in the search engines. For most people on limited budgets they need to learn how to do keyword research for free, so this article will explain how it can be done using a few simple techniques.

How To Do Keyword Research Using The Google Adwords Tool.

First of all head to https://adwords.google.co.uk and you will come to the page you see below. In this example I’ve used, how to do keyword research, as the key phrase. On the left I’ve ticked the boxes for broad match and exact match, so that it will give 2 figures to look at. Broad match tells you how many search for that phrase when it appears as part of a sentence in any order and exact match will show how many people type in exactly the phrase,how to do keyword research.

This exact match figure gives a much more accurate and realistic search volume and when you first start out and your SEO skills are limited, your best chance of ranking for a phrase is to choose one that has between 1K and 3K monthly searches.

Once you have typed in the keyphrase, which in this case is, how to do keyword research, you will then be presented with 100 other phrases that relate to this one.

If the phrase you originally typed in doesn’t have the right search figures, then check down the list to find one that is relevant, then base your article around that.

Also look for other related keywords with a search figure of between 150 to 1000 per month, as these can be used as long tail keywords within the body of your article. Long tail keywords are phrases with 3 or more words in them and if they relate to your main keyword your blog post should rank higher with the search engines.

You don’t need to worry too much about the competition figure in Google keyword tool, as this is for paid traffic, not organic traffic that you will try to compete for with your article.

How To Do Keyword Research Using Google Instant.

Another good way of finding newish long tail keyphrases is to use Google instant. Use Google to do a search and type in your keyword as the image below shows. Again in this example I have used, how to do keyword research, and Google instant has suggested 3 more phrases.

How to do keyword research for ppc.

You can now use all three of these phrases in the main body of your article, or even write a sub article under these headings. As these will all be phrases that people have recently typed in, you should stand a good chance of attracting traffic for these keywords.

Knowing how to do keyword research successfully takes time to master and you certainly won’t crack it with every article you do, but with practise and testing you will get the hang of it and it’s definitely a skill worth having if it results in free traffic to your blog.
